Question: What is the one bookish thing you would love to have, no matter the cost? 

Answer:  I am going to give you two of my options, one that would require me winning the lottery to ever fulfill and the other which is a bit more realistic and financially achievable.

First Option - My dream would be to have my very own personal library, like a whole house or something filled of books that I love. I think it would be great to be able to just walk into a room, pick up a book and enjoy. That is my idea of book heaven.

Second Option - On a bit more on the realistiv side is that I would like a Kindle..been thinking about it lately and I think I HAVE to get one LOL

Review: Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs

Being a mechanic is hard work. Mercy Thompson, for instance, just spend the last couple of months trying to evade the murderous queen of the local vampire seethe. And now the leader of the werewolf pack, who’s maybe-more-than-just-a-friend, has asked her for her help. A book of fae secrets has come to light and they’re all about to find out how implacable – and dangerous – the fae can be.

Okay, so maybe her trouble have nothing to do with the job. But she sure could use a holiday...

Silver Borne is the fifth instalment in the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. This book is suspenseful, sexually torqued to the max and full of mystery.

Mercy is still trying to deal with her issues after the ‘Tim incident’ and is slowly coming round to being able to be with Adam without flinching. Dealing with the pack is another can of worms altogether. Now that she has been properly inducted into the pack as the Alpha leader’s, Adam Hauptman, mate she can feel the pack at anytime, anywhere and vice versa. This would be a great thing if Mercy was able to control the magic within her but she can’t, which makes her a target and easy prey for those in the pack that don’t like having a coyote in their midst. Another problem arises when Tad, Zee’s son, calls Mercy and asks her to look in on a friend who seems to have gone missing and turns into a man-hunt. On top of all that, Mercy has a suicidal werewolf to deal with.

Silver Borne pulled me in from the minute I opened the first page, as did the other books in the series. I feel as if I can relate to Mercy even though I am nothing like her. She has the same love life problems as most women her age except she has to throw the supernatural on top of it, she’s a coyote and her love interest is the alpha male of the local pack. A pack which detests Mercy, which to me feels like being back at school. Everyone has their own clique and if you don’t fit the criteria you are an outcast. This has never stopped Mercy though – she ploughs on and takes it all on the chin and comes out the other side fighting. Sometimes I just wish that Mercy could be given a break from her life as everything seems to come at her all at once, she never seems to get a break from the onslaught. Hopefully the next book might have a bit of rest and relaxation in Mercy’s future.

Overall, I absolutely love this book and have thoroughly enjoyed the series. I am sad that we never saw any interaction with the vampires in this book but I am sure there is more to see from them in future books and I can’t wait to see how it will involve Mercy and/or the werewolf pack.

City of Glass is the third instalment in The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. This is by far most my favourite book from the series so far. There’s clarity, love, action and surprising secrets are unveiled.

Throughout City of Glass we see Jace and Clary try to fight their taboo love but neither can accept that the other is there sibling. They can’t see how their love for one another can be wrong. Clary and Jace discover some family secrets when they return to Idris but what they find out does not bode well with Jace and he then becomes a very self-destructing character. Clary is getting used to her new found powers and in the end it is what helps save them.

There was a sense of foreboding throughout the book and I kept hoping that everything would be explained and that everything would work out the way I envisioned it in my head. It nearly all worked out how I thought it would however there were a lot of twists and turns in the plot. Some of them blew my mind and made me think I was stupid for missing the set up. I love it when a book does this, makes you think it’s going one way and totally does a u-turn. It keeps you guessing and I appreciate a book that makes my mind think. Even if I do get it wrong.

I had so many favourite moments in this book. I can’t possibly list them all and if I did I would end up telling you how everything happened and I don’t want to spoil the book for you. What I will tell you is that I loved all the new characters that were introduced in this book. I loved some and I hated some. There was a part in the book where I was especially sad and it nearly made me cry. I think it’s amazing how words can stir up so many emotions within the reader and this is exactly what Cassandra Clare achieved with me.

Overall, I have loved this series so far. All the loose ends, I think, were tied up nicely except one, but I hope this is revisited in City of Fallen Angels. I would highly recommend this series to anyone out there that likes stories that cover the majority of the supernatural world, this series has everything; faeries, demons, warlocks, angels, vampires, werewolves.
